Why do I need to get organized?

You probably know the answer to this one yourself.  Are any of these scenarios familiar?

  • You can no longer find things you know you have.
  • You buy things you think you need only to find the same things back at home buried under some clutter.
  • You feel frustrated in some rooms in your house, or in your office, because the clutter has become overwhelming.
  • Your schedule is so confusing that friends and family can no longer count on you to be on time for their events.
  • You are reluctant to invite people into your home or office because there is no longer free space for them to sit.
  • You feel out of control and stressed, unable to find time or energy to do the things you really want to do.

You know you need to get organized.  It's just difficult to decide where to start and how to proceed.  That's how T2A can help.

What is the best way to get organized?

There is no "best" way, and that's good!  For every person and every organizing project there is potentially a different approach.  Your personality, your work style, and the environment in which you live and work are just a few examples of the ways in which your organizing project will be different from someone else's. 

It's my job to help you identify what approach will work best for you to achieve the results you want. The "best" way to get organized is to get started!  Contact me to describe your project.

How long will it take to get organized?

Most anything can "get organized" in a specific amount of time (click on the "Results" link for examples).  And you get to choose how we work together to achieve the results you're looking for -- in an evening, a day, or over an extended period of time.

On the other hand, maintaining those results is the real challenge.  You and I can work together to help you learn systems, habits, and tools that work for you and keep you organized.  So even when those occasional clutter emergencies occur in the future, you'll have strategies for addressing them so they won't seem so stressful anymore.

What if I feel embarrassed about my clutter?

It's natural to feel a little embarrassed when you first invite someone to see the clutter that has been frustrating you and describe your hopes to conquer it.  Your embarrassment will fade, however, when you and I begin to work together.  Professional organizers keep their work with clients strictly confidential.  My job is to work with you, not to judge you.

Who decides what to keep?

You do!  It is entirely up to you to make all the decisions about what to keep and what to give or throw away.  That's why it's so important for you and me to work together; only you can identify what's important to you.  You will never be forced to throw away anything.

You're the professional -- organize my home or office, and I'll come back when you're finished, OK?

That's not the point.  The purpose of organizing is two-fold:  (1) to address your immediate challenges with clutter and/or disorganization, and (2) to equip you with tools and strategies so that the issues that caused you to hire me are less likely to recur. 

In addition, you are the only one who can decide what should happen to your possessions -- what to keep, what to discard, what to donate.  It's critical that we work together; otherwise, your organization issues will disappear only temporarily.  Contact me to begin our work together.

How much will it cost?

The cost of your project will depend on how you choose to work with your organizer.  Thought2Action offers several options for conquering your challenges:

- For an hourly fee, I will work side-by-side on your project for as long as it takes to complete or as long as you feel you need assistance.

- For a one-time fee, I will prepare a step-by-step project assessment and proposal that outlines how you can handle your project yourself.

- For a monthly or quarterly fee, I will be available to you by phone and/or email for coaching services as you work through your project(s).

- For a one-time fee, I will come to your home or office for a "check-up," providing a review of your progress and suggesting next steps to maintain order.
